The Jazzbirds are a group led by the composer and guitarist Stefan Huber. The Jazzbirds have honed their own, emotional style to create a blend of melodic contemporary jazz, spiced with a pinch of Latin. The band creates its own emotional and exciting sound, encompassing jazz harmony and the rhythms of Latin, Swing and Fusion music. The band’s music allows room for improvisation, catchy tunes and lots of rhythm. The Big Band arrangements and dialogue of trumpet and saxophone are characteristic of the band’s sound.

The song “Moradia” is a Bossa Nova (the tempo is: quarter note = 130), full of Brazilian flair, with a catchy melody and plenty of room for improvisation, arranged for a combo ensemble of 6 to 10 musicians and very suitable for school bands. The song texts, which have the central theme of someone longing for home and their loved one, are written in the Portuguese, English and German language, and in Bavarian dialect.
The following instruments are played:
- female voice (alto or low mezzo soprano) or male voice (tenor or baritone),
- 2 brass instruments (trumpet/flugelhorn and tenor saxophone/Bb-clarinet)
- rhythm section with keyboard and/or guitar, electric bass or double bass
drums,
- and optionally 3 percussion instruments (shaker, tambourine, congas)
If wished, the rhythmic pattern in the guitar voice can be taken over by the keyboard,
for example, if no guitar is played or if this is convenient for other reasons.
The percussion instruments are purely optional, according to the ability and size of the band.
The solo parts can be assigned freely, according to the number of musicians in the band.
In the original recording, the clarinet plays a solo for the length of A3, and the solo in A4
is played by the guitar.
In order to make the performance of the piece as variable as possible, this release also provides versions of the trumpet part for violin and flute in C and of the tenor saxophone part for clarinet in Bb and for alto saxophone in Eb.
Besides this, lead sheets with the lyrics in all three languages are included, so that bands of any size, including smaller ones, can play the piece independently of the score.
