Courting Counting

Description "Courting Counting"

Courting Counting by Dame Evelyn Glennie. Arranged for Vibraphone - 3 or 4 mallets, in digital sheet music format.

The relentless left-hand pattern in Courting Counting is the bed for an unusual, leap-frog style melody that must be exactly in time with the left hand. Every note is important and should have a full, bell-like sound. Make sure you keep the tempo constant throughout.

Originally from the Faber Music publication Perpetual Motion, a collection of 10 evocative pieces written for young pianists to explore and enjoy, these pieces have been transcribed for marimba or vibraphone by Dame Evelyn Glennie with the intention of concentrating on musicality:

'Each piece was conceived to focus on a particular technical challenge thus helping to develop your mallet prowess, but I also see them as little sound stories. These ‘stories’ can be developed in any way you wish by allowing your imagination and curiosity to take you on a journey of discovery!'
