Bridgewater

Description "Bridgewater"

Commissioned by the principal bassoonist of the Hallé Orchestra (based on the banks Manchester's Bridgewater Canal), Bridgewater - Romantic Idyll for bassoon and piano is very much Edwardian in style. Lyrical, elegaic, melancholy and lush, it takes the bassoon to its very upper limit, allowing the player to show his/her interpretive abilities to their full advantage.

Bridgewater has been recorded by Marion Reinhard (Bassoon) and Stephen Hough (Piano) on Broken Branches – Compositions by Stephen Hough [BIS-CD-1952].
