Carillon Prelude began as my New Year´s greeting for 2009. The composer Carson Cooman suggested that I expand
the postcard-sized piece into a longer work. The work is dedicated to him in thanks.
The opening marcato figure alternates with a more songlike motive, with a continuous sixteenth note movement in the
left hand. The pianist should strive for a bell-like sound, especially in the longer notes of the bass line.
Carillon Prelude a vu le jour pour mes voeux pour l´année 2009. Le compositeur Carson Cooman, à qui l´oeuvre est
dédié, a suggèré que j´utilse les idées dans cette courte pièce pour une oeuvre plus importante.
Le motif marcato du debut alterne avec une passage plus chantante, avec une mouvement continuelle de doublecroches
à la main gauche. Le pianiste devrait chercher des sons qui évoquent des cloches, surtout dans les valeurs longues
de la main gauche.
